Big Cedar Lodge will host a special replica of the Vietnam War Memorial at the Registration Lawn, honoring the more than 58,000 men and women who gave their lives or remain missing in the conflict. We invite you to pay tribute to their courage and sacrifice during this solemn display. 

Patriotic Paint & Pour

Friday, May 23rd at 10:00am at The Paint Studio  

Create a patriotic masterpiece with family and friends! Our art instructor will walk you step-by-step in a fun, laid-back environment. No painting skills are required, and we’ll provide all the supplies needed. Two glasses of wine, water, soda and our famous Chex Mix are provided for each participant to enjoy while painting. You get to take the logoed apron home too! 

Stars & Stripes Beach Bingo

Friday, May 23rd at 2:00pm at Bent Hook Marina 

Enjoy multiple games and styles of our special edition holiday Bingo on the beach! Prizes will be awarded to the winners. This event is first come first served and space is limited.

Pedal Boat Family Fishing Tournament

Enjoy a fun evening of fishing on Table Rock Lake! Families and friends will be assigned a pedal boat (up to 4 people per boat). Tackle and fishing poles will be provided. Fishers will have one hour to try and catch the heaviest fish. Winners will receive a Bass Pro Shops prize, and a grand prize will be awarded! A Missouri fishing license is required for adults and can be obtained from the Marina. Reservations required.

Family Bowling Tournament

Sunday, May 24th From 5:00pm-6:30pm At Fun Mountain 

Sign up today to take part in the third annual Fun Mountain Memorial Bowling Tournament! This is not just a normal bowling tournament, you’ll have 10 frames of bowling in which each frame will be a new challenge such as granny style bowling, opposite hand bowling and backwards bowling. Each participant will receive a prize and a Fun Mountain game card. Reservations are required.

Each evening at sunset, experience a tribute to the past with a Civil War cannon firing and a glass-raising toast as the sun dips below the horizon. Enjoy dinner at Osage Restaurant, Buffalo Bar, or the “End of the Trail” Wine Cellar. (Daily at sunset, entry fee applies for non-resort guests.) 

Lady Liberty Cruises
Hop aboard our 62-foot luxury yacht for a daytime cruise, brunch, or dinner, or treat yourself to an unforgettable Fourth of July or Labor Day fireworks voyage. After-hours cocktail cruises are also available for guests 21+.

Goin’ Jessi Table Rock Lake Tour

Day guests are invited to park at the Grandview Conference Center upper lot and Fun Mountain’s lot. Parking is first-come, first-serve.

Where can I watch fireworks?

5:00 pm: Settle into your accommodation and then head to our Big Bass Mini Golf course for a late afternoon round of putt-putt or a dip in one of the pools before grabbing some dinner. 

6:00 pm: Head out for an evening of family fun at Fun Mountain and dinner at Uncle Buck’s. 

Pro Tip: Challenge the family to a race around the go-cart track and a round of bowling in our one-of-a-kind underwater-themed bowling alley

7:30 pm: Enjoy the family bonfire, roast s’mores, and watch a movie on the Swimmin’ Hole lawn.

Day Two

8:00 am: Start your day at Devil’s Pool Restaurant for breakfast and coffee. 

9:30 am: Next, suit up, grab your sunscreen and head to the Bent Hook Marina & Market to stock up your cooler and hop on a boat for a day of fun on Table Rock Lake.

12:00 pm: Make an afternoon pitstop from the water at our sister property at Long Creek Marina for a quick lunch from The Canteen and to stock up on snacks and beverages.

5:30 pm: Head out for an evening at Top of the Rock and take off on an electric cart on the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail tour.

6:30 pm: Come face to face with prehistoric creatures, explore Civil War history and take in the largest most impressive collection of Native American artifacts in the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum.  

7:30 pm: For dinner, dine on the patio of the Buffalo Bar or in the atrium at Osage Restaurant and enjoy picturesque views of Table rocks lake.

8:30 pm: Experience our evening Sunset Ceremony complete with the firing of the canon and a bag-piper.

Day Three

Breakfast: Rise and shine and make your way to Truman Cafe & Custard for coffee, breakfast bites, and smoothies.

9:00 AM: Take a short drive to Dogwood Canyon, our 10,000 acre nature park for horseback riding, hiking, biking, and more!

Lunch: After a day of exploring, stop for lunch at the Dogwood Canyon Canyon Mill & Grill built right over Indian Creek.

Return to the resort and relax by the pool or snag one of our complimentary paddle boats or canoes at Bent Hook Marina.

4:00 PM: Check the kids into the Kids Adventure Club at Fun Mountain for a fun-filled themed adventure with our activities staff.

Pro Tip: While the kids are occupied, Mom & Dad can sneak off for late afternoon massages and relax by the grotto in our world-class Cedar Creek Spa.

Built in the early 1920s by Frisco Railways executive, Harry Worman, Harry lived here with his wife Dorothy. This grand estate served as their country retreat, a place where they could escape the hustle and bustle of Springfield, Missouri, and entertain their friends. In this story, we dive into the intriguing history of the Worman House, from its origins as a haven of luxury to the tragic events that unfolded within its walls.

The Vision of Harry and Dorothy

Harry Worman and his wife Dorothy shared a love for Springfield but desired a peaceful countryside escape. With this vision in mind, they discovered the perfect piece of land and embarked on building their dream estate. The Wormans wanted a place where they could relax on weekends and host lavish gatherings for their friends. The Worman House became a reflection of their refined taste and sophistication.

A Residence Fit for Luxury

The Worman House boasted an array of luxurious amenities, far ahead of its time. With running water, electric lights, and the county’s first telephone, the Wormans enjoyed modern comforts that their neighbors wouldn’t have for decades in the Ozarks. Their extravagant lifestyle extended to their staff, including a chauffeur who resided next door above the garage in what is now Truman Café and Custard. The Wormans also had a caretaker in the neighboring cottage, and a skilled chef who prepared delectable meals using exotic meats sourced from all over the country.

In consideration of Dorothy’s Catholic faith, Harry had a stunning glass chapel built on the front of the house. This sacred space added a touch of spiritual serenity to the beauty of the estate and exemplified the Wormans’ dedication to creating a harmonious haven.

Divorce & Dorothy’s Mysterious Demise

Tragically, after seven years of marriage, Harry and Dorothy divorced. Some speculate that Dorothy’s loneliness played a significant role in their separation. Harry’s frequent business trips often left her alone. Despite the divorce, Dorothy retained ownership of the estate and continued to reside there, seeking solace in its familiar halls.

In 1943, Dorothy journeyed to Mexico, where she met and married Enrique Romero. However, less than a year later, she was discovered dead in a hotel bathtub in Mexico City. An autopsy revealed an overdose of sleeping pills, and her husband was never found. Dorothy’s body was cremated and brought back to the Worman House for a funeral that saw no attendees, except for a young pastor named Dr. Graham Clark. In honor of Dorothy’s love for the estate, her ashes were spread on the back porch, forever intertwining her spirit with the house.

Since Dorothy’s passing, numerous witnesses have reported encountering her ghost within the Worman House. Big Cedar Lodge associates have countless stories to share about Dorothy’s lingering presence. Despite her tragic end, the house that brought her solace continues to be cherished and appreciated by visitors today.

The Present-Day Worman House

Today, the Worman House has undergone a massive transformation. It houses a fine dining restaurant within its walls, offering a remarkable culinary experience to Big Cedar Lodge guests and property visitors. The bar, which once served as Big Cedar’s front desk, has a rich history of its own, dating back to the late 1980s. The breathtaking view from the back porch, overlooking Table Rock Lake in 1958, is a sight the Wormans never had the chance to witness.

In 1987, the property surrounding the Worman House found its new owner in Johnny Morris, a visionary entrepreneur and founder of Bass Pro Shops. Recognizing the historical significance and potential of the estate, Morris embarked on an expansion project that would breathe new life into the already magnificent residence. The house was expanded to include new areas, catering to the evolving needs of guests. Among the notable additions are two private dining rooms, The Library and the Chef’s Room, that offer guests a unique and elegant dining experience within the grandeur of the Worman House.

Johnny Morris’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship is evident throughout the Worman House. Custom chandeliers, adorning the private dining rooms and other areas, are handcrafted by the skilled artisans of the Bass Pro Fabrication Shop, located in Nixa, Missouri. This dedicated team of craftsmen specializes in creating exquisite metalwork, including gates, railings, and chandeliers, which can be seen throughout the property. As visitors step into this magnificent estate, they are greeted by a seamless blend of history, luxury, and the visionary spirit of Johnny Morris.

A Fine Dining Experience

Big Cedar Lodge’s Worman House Restaurant is true haven for fine dining enthusiasts. With a diverse menu, the restaurant offers an array of delectable dishes including lobster thermidor, steaks, seafood pot pie and more. The vessel was originally designed and commissioned for build in 2003 by Michael Farrington and Dorit Zeevi-Farrington, who co-founded the Manhattan Steamboat Company following the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Michael, a professional captain in NY Harbor with a Masters in Marine Science, worked as a marine scientist before later working as a forensic scientist for NYC’s Chief Medical Examiner immediately after 9/11, where he was part of the Trade Center Disaster DNA analysis team. Dorit was born in Israel and became an Israeli Defense Forces officer before moving to New York to earn her M.B.A. in Finance & International Business and ultimately rising to the ranks of First Vice President of a successful New York equities trading firm, logging long hours on Wall Street. (Manhattan Steam Boat Company, n.d.)

Then in 2001 everything changed. The Farrington’s had a baby girl. Within a year of returning from maternity leave, Dorit took voluntary lay-off, opting out of the demanding pace of Wall Street and set her sights on building a family business instead. The Farrington’s invested Dorit’s severance check to build a custom-designed 62-foot luxury yacht to host private events and charter cruises around New York Harbor, christening the vessel Noa Danielle. Built in 2004, the designs of L.E. Geary, a renowned Naval Architect of the 1920’s, served as inspiration for Noa Danielle, with some specific modifications to the pilothouse and forward bulwarks similar to that of the turn-of-the-century passenger-carry steamboats that traversed the waters of New York Harbor. The interior was a nod to the Roaring Twenties, with a Great Gatsby-inspired design, perfect for intimate gatherings. (Manhattan Steam Boat Company, n.d.)

Manhattan Steamboat Company owned and operated Noa Danielle until 2012, serving multiple ports of call in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, offering private charter tours, Statute of Liberty cruises, hosting elegant gatherings, celebrations, and corporate and non-profit events. In 2012, Johnny Morris, noted conservationist and founder of Bass Pro Shops and Big Cedar Lodge, purchased Noa Danielle, to offer Big Cedar Lodge guests a unique way to experience the beauty of the Ozarks by water. The remarkable vessel was renamed Lady Liberty as a tribute to her prior service as a Statute of Liberty tour yacht, where guests from around the globe leisurely cruised the New York Harbor while learning, discussing, and reflecting upon our country’s history and the freedoms symbolized by the Statute of Liberty.

Lady Liberty officially embarked on her journey to the Ozarks from the New York Harbor at Chelsea Piers at 5:30am on May 28, 2012. The vessel sailed down the east coast to Maryland and was then trailered for the remainder of the trip west. The top deck was removed for transport and later reassembled upon arrival in Missouri.  The carpets were removed, and stunning teak wood flooring was installed throughout.

After renovations, Lady Liberty finally settled in at Bent Hook Marina, under the careful stewardship of of First Captain Zeke, who is still captaining Lady Liberty today, and Second Captain Danny, who retired just a few years ago. Cruise bookings opened to Big Cedar Lodge guests in 2014.

Today, Lady Liberty is berthed at Big Cedar Lodge’s Long Creek Marina, offering visitors from across the globe a unique way to experience the beauty of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake. 

Lady Liberty offers a stark contrast to the high-powered sport boats, family-friendly pontoons, cabin cruisers, and fishing boats common among today’s lake goers. This custom-built 62-foot luxury yacht captures century-old beauty and charm with all the modern amenities of today.

From fine dining experiences to brunch and day cruises, the experienced captains and crew offer more than 200 cruise options each year. Maximum guest capacity is only 36, ensuring an intimate and relaxing experience for everyone on board. Cruises are all family friendly with menu options available for children.

Each cruise features live entertainment from local artists Gidean Dunn and Stephanie Barney, who perform almost exclusively for Lady Liberty guests.  Guests are welcomed aboard at the dock by the captain and first mate.  Before departing, the captain will introduce the crew, meal, and route plan.

There are two cruise routes, each with one and one-half hours of cruising time. The primary route sails north past Big Cedar Lodge, State Park Marina, the Showboat Branson Belle, to Table Rock Lake Dam, before turning back.  The southern route sails across the Arkansas state line, past miles of untouched shorelines, offering guests the chance to spot Table Rock Lake’s legendary mountain goat Crisco before turning back.  

During the cruise, the captain keeps guests entertained with interesting facts, identifies points of interest along the way, and watches the horizon for eagles and other wildlife.  For sunset cruises, the crew are always ready to assist guests to capture the perfect sunset photos!

On cool or wet weather days, Lady Liberty crew encapsulates the upper dining and lower deck spaces to ensure a warm and dry boating experience while still providing beautiful views of Table Rock Lake!
